Before they start school, very
young children in Britain may go to a playschool where they play with other
children and learn to socialize.
2.
British children start primary school
at the age of 5 and move to a secondary school at 11 or 13. At the age of 18 or
19 they may go on to further education at a university, polytechnic or college.
3.
At the age of 16, British
pupils take GCSE exams. They may stay on at school to take A levels two years
later when they are in the sixth form.
4.
A British school or university
year is divided into three terms; in America the year is divided into two terms.
5.
In Britain, private boarding
schools are known as public schools – in the USA, this term refers to the
normal kind or state schools.
6.
At the end of a university
course, graduates are awarded a degree - probably a BA (Bachelor of Arts), BSc
(Bachelor of Science) or Bed (Bachelor of Education); post-graduates can take a
further course or do research and write a dissertation in the hope of getting
an MA (Master of Arts) or a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy).

The educational
system in Russia is federal, centralized. Currently, it consists of: pre-school
education, primary education, secondary education within 5 years, full
secondary education, higher education. Formal education is from 7 to 18 years.
The duration of the school year is 34 weeks. Students are trained 5-6 days a
week. In Russia, many types of secondary schools (e.g. common schools, lyceums,
gymnasiums) and the variety of educational programs. In Russia, as in the UK
and USA private and public schools also exist. Basic education lasts for 9
years (9 classes). It is completed by passing the exam "GIA" (State
Final Attestation). After finishing 9 classes students receive an incomplete
secondary education. At the end of the 11th form students pass the exam
"RSE"(Russian State Exam) in order to get the certificate of
finishing school.

Laurie Lee felt grumpy as he behaved too childish on his
first day at school.
Laurie Lee was
obedient because his teachers promised him a present for a good behavior.
Laurie Lee was
panicky and worried of his first day at school
Paul was nervous
and scared of his first day at school for he did not know how to teach his
students.
Paul became
repulsive and angry because his pupils were irritating.
3.
I think that
these examples show that the students in this school are irritating, and the
staff is very odd, moreover, education in this school is very bad for Paul
should teach his students what he does not know at all.

Students stay
away from school for a number of reasons, e.g. children are trying to avoid
negative feelings, like anxiety and depression, or negative experiences, like
exams or troubling social interactions. On the other hand, they may be pursuing
some positive reward — a parent’s attention, the chance to play video games all
day or, for older kids, more illicit pleasures. But, a child who misses a great deal of school for
reasons that look like truancy may become increasingly anxious and embarrassed about
going back. In fact, missing school intensifies both the academic pressures and
the social pressures that are waiting when a child returns, setting up a
dangerous cycle in which the more you’re absent, the more you want to stay out.

2 C To

3 A Parents
set a bad example for them.
4 B They
are only just beginning to help.
5 A To
convince them to offer parents cheap holidays.
6 C To
teach students to take school more serious
7 A The
law is not strict enough.
3.
I think that
parenting should be more responsible, because family involvement has a direct,
positive effect on children’s achievement and is the most accurate predictor of
a student’s success in school.
Besides, I think
that strict punishment cannot always be effective for it may force a child to
rebel against the authority, lose temper, and to behave badly.

- Major advantage of a state school is that it’s free, while public schools can be quite expensive.Public schools have better instructors and facilities, but what is great about state schools is a mix of students. The big advantage of going to public schools is the connections you make, moreover, better employers look for people first at public schools, if they can’t find anyone at public schools only then they might look for someone in a state school. However, public schools cost a lot.
